Background: The Salvatus Christian Society was established in the year 2001 by the Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto (SBCZ) with the main objective of discouraging the youths from Drugs and Alcohol abuse and to create awareness on HIV/AIDS and subsequent treatments.
Since Oct ’04, the organization has been sponsored by EHA-Project Orchid through Prodigal’s Home Dimapur as part of its programme targeting the N.E. India where HIV/AIDS prevalence is high i.e. Manipur and Nagaland. The project is primarily focused on Harm Reduction in relation to Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) and Sex workers at Zunheboto and Aghunato town.
Objective:
- To promote safer injecting practices through consistent supply of needle and syringes among 600 IDUs in Zunheboto
- •To promote safer sexual practices among 600 IDUs, their sexual partners and 50 sex workers in Zunheboto.
- To reduce the spread of HIV/STI among the high risk group.
