Background:
Since its inception, the TMNL had been working tirelessly in the field of HIV/AIDs. in fact it is the foremost organisation in the district to take up this issue along with the Manipur State AIDS Control Society(empanelled body) besides being a member of the District AIDS Committee and also had organised Trainings, workshops as well as awareness campaign in most of the villages in the district. The council also ran a de-addiction-cum- rehabilitation centre under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India 1992-2004. The Council also worked as an implementing partner with Ramungo Library and PASDO during the period 2004-05 and 2006-2007 respectively on harm reduction program, project ORCHID. Thus, our staffs are well capacitated and have contributed many services to the society by reducing the trend of HIV/AIDS infection amongst the IDUs and their partners. In the district. The ORWs as well as all the project staff will be posted at their respective Sub-DIC and will be covering all the villages and areas of their respective cluster.

Objective:

• To reduce the risk of HIV transmission through sharing of Needle & syringes among 400 IDUs living in Chingai and Phungyar block.
• To reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases among 400 IDUs and their partners living in Phungyar and Chingai block, Ukhrul District, Manipur.
