Background:
LRRC as the main implementing wing was established in 1983 by Evangelical Baptist Convention (EBC), aspiring to contribute towards addressing issues which had already affected the lives of many substance users, SWs and their partners in some way or others. Since, April, 2005, Lamka Rehabilitation and Research Centre (LRRC) is the implementing wing of EBC in its endeavour towards rebuilding the society, working with Project ORCHID. During this period, the NGO achieved, capacity building for staff in different fields like Computer knowledge, Outreach competency, counselling approach (Rapport building skill), scientific communication system, inter-personal communication system, advocacy, technical skills, accountancy, administrative efficiency, clinical skill in the field of STI management and various other activities to educate and empower the community it serves. It has also supported the marginalised community to form Self Help Groups (SHGs) to address their needs and to learn to take responsibilities independently and strengthening them for sustainability. Advocacy is also a major role for EBC/LRRC in different sectors of the society. The long effort of bringing about an understanding with the community at large has never gone into vain as it is well responded by the participation of communities in program undertakings, especially among the Faith Based Organizations (FBO) in the district.  

Objective:

• To reduce the spread of HIV infection among the IDUs and their sexual partners.
• •Sensitise the community on the concept of Harm Reduction strategies and other drug related harm associated with injecting drug use.
• To promote safer sex and safer injecting practices among the IDUs & SWs
• To capacitate, provide care and support services and facilitate SHG/ PSGs among the vulnerable and marginalised community. This is the Objective of the Organisation under PPTCT program
